Someone told me a very interesting story one day. They said to me that the Guillebeaux-Brown connection to the family is through marriage and therefore the Guillebeaux-Brown family line is not connected to the Alex Guillebeau or Cornelius Guillebeau family line.

I pondered this thought for some time, wondering just how that can be possible. To me, it really didn't matter I was truly excited about meeting everyone that was connected to the Guillebeau family line. But still, these negative thoughts remained and I decided to do a little bit more checking into the meaning and resources of genealogy.

It seems that for all of us here in the United States our of story starts with Andre Guillebeau and Mary Jane Roquemore who according to research had three children, Pierre Guillebeau, Susannah Guillebeau and James Guillebeau. Our family line seems to concentrate on Pierre who was born October 20, 1769. Pierre Guillebeau married Mary Jane Bellot and according to some records they had as many as 10 children, one of which was Peter Lungel. Guillebeau, June 03, 1812.

It was unknown whether or not Peter had gotten married but he did father three children that we are aware of, Mary Jane Guillebeau - May 1844, Cornelius (Neal) Guillebeau - February 1856 and Alex H. Guillebeau (AKA Dick) - December 25, 1855. Alex H. Guillebeau was my great-grandmother's father, but this branch I'm not going to touch on at this time. It is through Mary Jane Guillebeau who married Joseph Brown is the family line of this discussion.

It is through this union of Mary Jane Guillebeau and Joseph Brown that produced as much as 10 children. But before we can talk about genealogy, we must touch on the subject of Deoxyribonucleic Acid, better known as DNA. DNA is any of the various nucleic acids that are found expressly in the cell nucleei that are the molecular basis of heredity in many organisms. To understand is more clearly, we come to the word: molecular which means - the smallest particle of matter that is the same chemically as the whole mass.

I think this may some up genealogy. Many people say that one side of the family married into the line, that being Guillebeau - Brown for example. This seems to imply that this particular branch is not associated with the other branches of family, Alex H. Guillebeau and Cornelius Guillebeau. Well, the proof would be in the DNA. Let's take the Guillebeaux - Brown connection. Joseph Brown married Mary Jane Guillebeau and from that union children were formed. If we were going to say that anyone married into the family, it would be Joseph Brown, but not the children. The children have Guillebeau blood which stems from Joseph Brown and Mary Jane Guillebeau. This becomes the makeup of the DNA.
